January 2025

On 17th January 2025, Carlsberg Group completed the acquisition of Britvic plc, forming Carlsberg Britvic. This new company combines Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company (CMBC) and Britvic’s UK business, creating a strong national presence with CMBC’s breweries and logistics operations, and Britvic’s packaging and production capabilities. Carlsberg Britvic is now the largest multi-beverage supplier in the UK, making the UK Carlsberg Group’s largest market by revenue.

  • The four UK Governments have announced the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for drinks containers will go live in October 2027, and it will not include glass at this time. Although hospitality venues won't be required to host a return point, they will be able to apply to host a voluntary one.
