Not long ago, the closest that pubs and clubs ever came to competition was a friendly game of darts or a round or two of bingo. Not anymore. A different kind of outlet is becoming more popular, and a new phrase has been coined: competitive socialising.
What is competitive socialising?
Growing numbers of pub and clubgoers are vying for victory in a wide range of games in venues across the UK. At London’s F1 Arcade Bar, guests can unleash their inner Lewis Hamilton and leave their friends for dust in the venue’s 60 virtual motion racing simulators. In Glasgow’s Boom Battle Bar, they can battle it out at beer pong, axe throwing or augmented reality darts. Down in Brighton, the World’s End pub offers Scalextric grand prix, with live commentary and personalised licence plates.
